WASHINGTON -- House Speaker John Boehner says the way to create jobs is for President Barack Obama to quickly extend expiring tax cuts and stop issuing regulations clamping down on businesses.
Boehner spoke to reporters Friday after Obama said Republican policies are hurting the economy.
The Ohio Republican says the House will vote next month to extend the Bush-era tax cuts, which are set to expire Jan. 1. He said Obama should assure the country he will sign an extension of current tax rates.
Republicans want all the tax rates extended, while Obama opposes renewing them for people earning more than $250,000 a year.
Boehner said uncertainty over future tax rates and federal regulations are discouraging employers from hiring workers.
