With her non-stop promotional circuit and one-of-a-kind marketing strategy, Lady Gaga convinced a swarm of Little Monsters (1.1 million, to be exact) to snag a copy of her new album, Born This Way. And it looks like she'll be encouraging them to pick up another record this fall, when ... Tony Bennett's Duets II LP, which will feature a collabo with Monther Monster, drops on September 20.
While there's no word yet on what song the duo will cover, it's likely to be one of Bennett's previous hits. So we have a suggestion for Gaga and Tony, a song we'd like to see the two make some magic on: "Firefly."
What makes the tune so fitting? Well, Bennett collaborated with none other than Kermit the Frog for this easy, breezy song in the late 1990s. Coincidentally, Gaga and Kermit are besties ? she even boasted about her friendship with the Muppet when they walked the red carpet of the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards together. And who knows? Maybe if they all play their cards right, an all-star studio collaboration led by the legendary smooth crooner isn't out of the question. In fact, sounds like fate to us.
For those who aren't big Bennett fans, "Firefly" is a 90-second tune off his 1959 In Person! live album, about a woman who sets the singer's night ablaze with her "moon glow," but gives him no attention. After singing songs like "Alejandro" and "Judas," Gaga must know something about not getting the kind of attention you want from a guy.
What song do you want Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga to sing together? Tell us in the comments below!
